About the production

A defining struggle
in Tuskegee’s history.

The true story of how Dr. Robert Russa Moton, the second president of Tuskegee Institute, Dr. John A. Kenney, and others worked with the federal government to establish the Veterans Administration Hospital for Negroes in Tuskegee in 1923.

Their work confronted opposition from the Ku Klux Klan and the local white community. The production brings this chapter of Tuskegee’s history to the stage.
